Kids and Pets: How to Manage Them During Your Move

Let’s face it—moving with kids and pets can be an adventure (and not always the good kind). Here’s how to make sure your little ones and fur babies stay safe and calm during the chaos.

1. Plan for Babysitting or Pet Sitting On moving day, try to keep kids and pets out of the way. Arrange for a friend or family member to babysit, or hire a pet sitter to take care of your furry friends.

2. Keep Them Busy If they must be around, give them tasks (nothing too heavy, though!) to keep them occupied. Think coloring books for kids, or a puzzle for the dog (just kidding…sort of).

3. Familiar Items Are Key Pack their favorite toys, blankets, or snacks last so they can have a bit of comfort during the move. The more familiar their things are, the less stressed they’ll feel.

4. Safety First Make sure your kids and pets are safe from all the moving hazards. Tape down cords, block off stairways, and supervise them to avoid accidents.
