How to Pack Fragile and Antique Items to Prevent Damage

Packing your precious fragile items or antiques can feel like a mini heart attack waiting to happen. But don’t panic! Here’s how to protect your treasures.

1. Use the Right Boxes For fragile items, use small boxes—this reduces the chance of things shifting. Wrap each item in bubble wrap or soft packing paper, and place them in the box with cushioning material.

2. Pack Antiques with Extra Care Antiques need extra love. Consider using specialty boxes for delicate items. Fill the spaces around your antiques with foam peanuts or air pillows to prevent them from moving.

3. Label Clearly Mark your fragile items with big “FRAGILE” labels. Don’t be shy with the tape, and make sure the box is securely sealed.

4. Don’t Overload Boxes It’s tempting to cram as many items as possible in a box to save space, but don’t do it! Overpacking can lead to breakage. Be gentle with your packing.

5. Keep Them Safe During Transport If possible, transport fragile items yourself. Or, for a professional touch, get movers who specialize in fragile or antique items.
